Jingjing:  Hey Mark.  How's your week going?

京晶：嘿，马克，这周过得怎么样？

Mark:  Hey Jingjing.  It's been a smooth week so far.

马克：嘿，京晶。目前还比较顺利。

Jingjing:  You look like you're a little under the weather—if you don't mind me pointing it out.

京晶：你看上去有些不舒服的样子，如果你不介意我指出来的话。

Mark:  Yeah, it might look that way; but I'm fine.  I had to work late yesterday, and forgot to use night cream.  So, my eyes look a little dark.

马克：是的，可能看上去有点，但是我很好。我昨天不得不工作到很晚，还忘了用晚霜。所以，我的眼睛看着有点黑。

Jingjing:  Yeah, that's what I noticed.  Anyway, it's good you're feeling well.  Mark, I wonder if you could give me some advice.

京晶：对，那就是我注意到的。好吧，你感觉身体还好就好。马克，我在想你能否给我一点建议。

Mark:  Sure.  What's up?

马克：当然，怎么了？

Jingjing:  Well, I have to go to a pageant, and am wondering about make-up.

京晶：是这样的，我要去参加一个盛典，我想知道怎么化妆。

Mark:  I don't think you need any make-up.

马克：我不觉你需要任何的化妆。

Jingjing:  Hah!  Guys always say that.  But seriously, I want to get away from the casual look for an evening.  How do you think I should handle it?  I could go to a salon and get a make-over, go to a cosmetics shop and buy a kit, or just use whatever lipstick I have already.

京晶：哈，男生们总是这么说。但说真的，我想为这个晚上打扮的得不同一些。你觉得我应该如何操作一下呢？我可以去一个美容店弄一弄，去化妆品店买一个化妆套装，或者就用我手里有的不管什么颜色的唇膏。

Mark:  Hmm.  At the salons, they always overdo it, you know, with foundation and all kinds of stuff.  On the other hand, I've seen people after they've done their own make-up, and it looked a little wrong.

马克：嗯，在美容沙龙里，他们经常会弄过头，比如涂粉底或者其他什么的。另一方面，我也见过一些人自己化妆，看上去总是哪里不对。

Jingjing:  I don't really have much make-up.  I'd have to buy a lot of products and might not use them again.

京晶：我真的没有太多化妆品。我必须得买一大堆以后可能不会再用的产品了。

Mark:  You have lipstick already.  I think if you just added to that an eyebrow pencil, mascara, and a small pallet, it'd be enough.  Oh, and don't forget to pick up some make-up remover.

马克：你已经有唇膏了。我想如果你再添一支眉笔，睫毛膏，和一个小彩妆色盘的就足够了。噢, 对了，别忘了再买一些卸妆液。

Jingjing:  You think that's all I need?

京晶：你觉得我就需要这些了吗？

Mark:  If the pallet doesn't include rouge or eyeshadow, you'd want to add those.

马克：如果色盘不包括腮红和眼影，你就得再买上那些。

Jingjing:  The salon might work out well for me, because I can go there on the way to the pageant.

京晶：去沙龙可能能很好地解决我的问题，因为我可以在去盛典的路上就去那儿了。

Mark:  That might work better for you.  Just don't let them make you look like you're gonna be in a Peking opera.  By the way, are you hosting the pageant or just going as a guest.

马克：这办法可能更好。就是不要让他们把你打扮得像要演京剧了。对了，你是要主持这个盛典呢还是只是作为一个嘉宾去。

Jingjing:  I'll be there mostly as a guest.  But the organizers told me to be ready to take the stage for a short time.

Mark:  Yeah, so go mostly for the natural look.  A few accents should be enough.

马克：所以，基本以最自然的面貌去参加就行了，稍事打扮即可。

Jingjing:  Thanks for your advice, Mark.

京晶：谢谢你的建议哦，马克。

Mark:  Well, Jingjing, did the pageant go well?

马克：京晶，盛典进行得顺利吗？

Jingjing:  Yeah, it was really enjoyable.

京晶：不错呢，十分愉快

Mark:  Did you go on stage?

马克：你上台了吗？

Jingjing:  I did.  Actually, I won an award!

京晶：我上了，我还得奖了！

Mark:  That's great.  Was it for best make-up?

马克：太棒了。是最佳化妆奖吗？

Jingjing:  Very funny.  It was an achievement award for radio hosting.

京晶：特别逗。是广播主持成就奖。

Mark:  You've definitely earned it!  I'm glad you had a good evening.

马克：毫无疑问你为自己挣得了这个荣誉！很开心你度过了一个愉快的夜晚。

Jingjing:  Thanks.  And I was glad to have gone to the salon.  If I had done my own make-up, I might have been too self-conscious about it at the pageant.

京晶：谢谢。真好我去了沙龙，如果我自己化妆的话，我可能会在盛典上太害羞不安。

Mark:  That makes sense.  Leave it to the pros.

Jingjing:  Exactly.  Speaking of which, let's get back to work.
